REACT and Geofit Projects workshops
Tomorrow afternoon REACT and Geofit Projects will be at #SP21 in a joint workshop organised by @RINA1861 with #H2020 sister projects presenting the different collaborative approaches and perspectives they all have for energy transition in islands and renewable heating and cooling solutions for buildings and Industry 2.0.

Geofit 2nd review meeting
January has been intense as the Geofit partners have been preparing for today's second review meeting! We are now gathered online as each work package presents the evolution of the project to date.
Alessandro Piccinini and Desirée Arias presented in BSO-V 2020
This evening, Alessandro Piccinini and Desirée Arias of IRUSE group presented their papers on the Building Simulation and Optimization 2020 conference.
Alessandro presented the paper "A novel ROM methodology to support the estimation of the energy savings under the Measurement and Verification protocol". The authors of this paper were Alessandro Piccinini, Magdalena Hajdukiewicz, Letizia D'Angelo, Luis Miguel Blanes y Marcus M. Keane.
Desirée presented the paper "Advanced machine learning techniques for predictive maintenance of HVAC subsystems based on energy consumption prediction" developed in collaboration with the GSI group of the University of Valladolid in Spain. The authors of this paper are Desirée Arias-Requejo, Carlos J. Alonso-Gonzalez, Belarmino Pulido and Marcus M. Keane.
Sarah O'Connel did the first on-line PhD defence for an IRUSE colleague
On August 7th, Sarah O'Connel succesfully defended her PhD thesis on-line, being the first PhD defence for an IRUSE colleague.
A big congratulations to Sarah on her excellent work and thesis outcome.
IRUSE attended to SPHERE project 2nd G.A. meeting
IRUSE Group has attended to the 2nd General Assembly meeting of the H2020 SPHERE project this month. The meeting was organized by Empresarios Agrupados and took place in their premises in Madrid.
SPHERE project just finished its first year, in which we have been investigating how our BIM-based Digital Twin Platform will be integrated in the building lifecycle to reduce costs and improve energy efficiency.

Phd position at NUI Galway
Applications are invited for a PhD position as part of the ENERGE project with the Whitaker Institute and the College of Engineering and Informatics (Civil Engineering), National University of Ireland, Galway (NUI Galway). This position is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (under the North-West Europe InterReg programme) and is available on a full-time basis from September 2019.
Applicants should hold at least a second class honours degree (Grade 1) in various disciplines including business, social science, marketing and also engineering disciplines (civil, environmental or industrial). Candidates with equivalent degrees in related areas may apply.

GEOFIT Video Presentation
This short motion graphics video explains the context from which the European project Geofit arises: the environmental problem and the barriers and difficulties it faces, as well as the effective and integral solutions provided by the project. It also describes the characteristics of our geothermal retrofitting systems and our innovative tools, methods and technologies. Finally, the video presents the pilot sites where the Geofit systems will be installed to demonstrate the results and all the countries that make up our consortium.

18th International Conference On Sustainable Energy Technologies
SET 2019, hosted by the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), is a multi–disciplinary, peer-reviewed international conference on sustainable energy sources and technologies that provides a forum for the exchange of latest technical information, the dissemination of the high-quality research results, the presentation of the new developments in the area, and the debate and shaping of future directions and priorities for sustainable development and energy security.
CALL FOR PAPERS:
Contributions are invited on the topics within the conference scope of sustainable energy technologies.
All contributions should be of high quality, original and not published elsewhere or submitted for publication during the review period. All accepted papers will be presented orally or by poster, and included in the conference proceedings. Selected papers will be published in several international journals including our partner journals.
