Bio

Dr. Louise Hannon is a graduate of Civil Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, she has a strong background Civil Engineering Design and Project Management having worked in a Civil Engineering Consultancy for many years. During this time, Louise was principally involved in the design of some of Ireland’s major road and drainage infrastructure projects.

In 2001, Louise was appointed to the role of Associate with Roughan & O’Donovan Consulting Engineers and in 2008, opened and managed the company’s Galway Office.

Louise joined NUIG in 2013, undertaking a Research Masters in the area of water and working as a Research Engineer as part of an Enterprise Ireland funded research project concerned with the remote operational monitoring of water treatment facilities.

In early 2015, Louise was appointed as Project Manager of the EU Funded FP7 Waternomics Research Project. She completed a Masters in Engineering Science by Research in 2016 on the subject of Operational Testing at Wastewater Treatment Facilities.

In January 2017, the Waternomics Research Project was successfully accepted by the commission with the highest commendation. Concurrent to the Waternomics Project, Louise began work, in 2016, on the EU H2020 funded Project INNOQUA. Louise project manages and progresses NUIG’s extensive commitments in the project. Louise is currently undertaking a professional diploma in Project Management with the Institute of Project Management.

Her research interests span a variety of areas related to water management, wastewater management and transportation with particular interest in impacting human behaviour to better resource management.
